guild config

Read and write CLI configuration. Each subcommand has its own section below, in alphabetical order. Global config lives in config.json in the global config directory (GUILD_CONFIG_DIR, or ~/.guild when unset). Local config lives in guild.json in your agent directory. guild config set writes global config only.

get

Read a single config value. The CLI looks up the key in global config first, then in local guild.json.

guild config get default_workspace               # Read a global value
guild config get agent_id                        # Read a value from the local guild.json
guild config get default_workspace --mode json   # Include which file the value came from

Argument	Description
`<key>`	The key to read. Any global key, or a local key: `agent_id`, `name`, `workspace_id`, or `full_name`.

If the key isn’t set, the command exits with code 1. With --mode json, the output includes key, value, and source (global or local).

list

Show all global and local config values.

guild config list               # Show all config values

path

Show the paths to the global and local config files, and whether each one exists.

guild config path               # Show the config file paths
guild config path --mode json   # Emit each path with an exists flag

set

Write a value to global config.

guild config set default_workspace <workspace-id>   # Set the default workspace
guild config set default_owner myorg                # Set the default owner by name or ID
guild config set json true                          # Output JSON from every command
guild config set telemetry disabled                 # Opt out of telemetry

Argument	Description
`<key>`	The global key to set. See the table below.
`<value>`	The value to set.

Key	Description
`auto_update`	Automatic CLI updates on interactive launch. Boolean. Defaults to `true`. See Staying up to date.
`debug`	Enable verbose debug output. Boolean.
`default_owner`	Default owner (personal account or org) for `guild agent init` and `guild agent fork`. Accepts a name or ID. The CLI resolves a name to its ID when it can.
`default_workspace`	Default workspace ID used by commands. The CLI also looks up and stores the workspace name, and prints an error if it can’t, such as when you’re not logged in.
`json`	Always output JSON. Boolean.
`quiet`	Suppress progress messages. Boolean.
`telemetry`	CLI telemetry: `enabled` or `disabled`. See Telemetry.

Boolean keys accept true/false, yes/no, on/off, or 1/0. An unknown key, or an invalid value for a boolean key or telemetry, exits with code 1. The json key is the config-file equivalent of --mode json. Setting guild config set json true applies JSON output to every command without passing the flag each time.
